New WASH CEO Visits WASH Secretariat
Liberia’s newly appointed WASH Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Bobby Whitfield visits the offices of the National Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Promotion Committee Secretariat (NWSHPC). The CEO was received by the National WASH Coordinator, Mr. Abdul Hafiz Koroma. Mr. Koroma, on behalf of his team, reassures the CEO of a smooth working relationship. He also promises to work so closely with the new team in raising funding and scouting more opportunities for the able running of the WASH Commission. Mr. Koroma informed the team that he was making the representation also on behalf of his boss Mr. Bolton Dennis who was attending another function.
On Friday, August 10, 2018, the entire WASH Sector of Liberia rejoiced to the news of the appointments which affected the newly enacted WASH Commission. The President nominated the below persons to the following positions:
The name “Abdul Koroma” remains a pillar in the fight for safe drinking water and better sanitation in Liberia. It is with this optimism that many WASH actors, including international stakeholders, are so happy about the decision of the President over the appointment of the CEO and the team. Some international partners say the appointment is a clear demonstration of political will by the George Mannah Weah’s government and it is as well a step forward to sustaining the gains made in the sector over the years.
